In this presentation, were going to talk about why despite all your efforts, you aren’t moving anywhere.
It’s so confusing because consciously YOU SAY YOU want this thing. Yet you don’t do it. It makes no sense!
I’m going to tell you the number one problem - behind your procrastination and self-sabotage that you haven’t addressed yet.
And very often, that is fear. But there's another sinister, tricky little emotion, that most of us NEVER ADDRESS. Because it's too uncomfortable.
And it's too bad, because addressing this emotion is the difference between you freely persuing your highest path in life, and sitting on the sidelines.
Exercise #1 - Fear Setting
This is a version of Tim Ferris's exercise. You can see his full version on his blog here.
- Define your nightmare - the ABSOLUTE worst thing that could happen if you did what you're procrastinating on. What doubts, fears, and "bad scenerios" can you envision as a result of taking this action. Go into detail, and write about the worst-case scenerios. How bad would these things really be, on a scale of 1-10? What is the likelihood of them actually occurring?
- What could you do to pick up the pieces if this worst-case scenario actually took place?
- What are some steps you could take to prevent this worst-case scenario from taking place?
- What are some more likely scenarios that would happen if you took this action/step forward?
Exercise #2 - Embrace Shame Meditation...
Note: if you're experiencing a more serious psychological issue, psychosis, or trauma, it's recommended to do this type of exercise with a professional therapist.
This video below is an excerpt from our introspective writing course Silence Your Mind. It's the same one I recommended in the presentation!
