"You don't want to arrive at the grave only to then find out that the point was to dance while the music was playing."
- Allan Watts
I want to share a lesson with you that I learned from Shane a while ago.
Here's him explaining it to the ikario team:
We often get so caught up in the pursuit of our goals that we forget why we were chasing them in the first place.
Like the man who works 80-90+ hour workweeks to provide for his family, to give his kids a great life…
BUT… ends up missing out on their childhood.
That man can only look back and wish he had done things differently.
It’s the same for us in business.
I believe every entrepreneur goes into business to have the freedom to ‘dance while the music is playing’…
…and then we forget to do it!
So today, I just want to leave you with this thought.
And to express my gratitude for the life I get to live.
When things get tough, I make sure I remind myself to dance...
...because it’s easy to forget that the music is playing right now.
Would love to hear if you have moments like this where you stop to smell the roses?
Let me know below.
Abhi
PS. I have an update in the works for you regarding the brand-building work I've done doing.
It should be ready by next week. Fingers crossed, it’s going to be good 😊

Thanks for the share! 🙂
Hi Abhi,
Yes…I think this is a very important topic! So many entrepreneurs — especially “new” ones — are so completely wrapped up in their “work” focus, they forget there is life going on out there in the world!
In my case, I always felt I was having the opposite “problem” where I didn’t invest ‘enough’ time on “work” projects… (That’s why I ended up taking Shane’s *original* “focus & action” course… ”before ikario!” 😉 LoL!) Seriously!
But, having a choice — and we always DO have agency to decide — I’d rather invest in stopping along the way to really enjoy life! 😀
Thank you for your comment Karen! You are absolutely right. Gotta enjoy it while it lasts 🙂
