“More smiling, less worrying. More compassion, less judgment. More blessed, less stressed. More love, less hate.”
― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart
Success requires effort. To turn your dreams to reality, long hours, overthinking of seemingly insolvable problems and sleepless nights may litter the road ahead.
But how much effort is too much? At what point does the effort and stress begin to not only slow our progress - but cripple it completely?
Our guest today for this episode, Jan Broders, experienced firsthand what can happen when the hamster wheel run has gone on for too long.
Jan literally had to find a new direction for his life when he burnt out and physically collapsed at work at the age of 27. He had to spend two months in a clinic to recover physically, mentally, and emotionally and wasn't able to work for an entire year.
That experience led him to dive deep into mindfulness, personal development, and coaching. He travelled the world for 3 years (had a baby along the way) and launched his own coaching practice. Today, Jan coaches high performers from around the world and consults corporations on implementing stress management initiatives and leadership programs. He lives on the island of Mallorca, Spain with his wife and two kids.
In this conversation, Jan shares with us essential wisdom for succeeding without reaching the point of burnout that he experienced.
So chill out, grab a cup of chamomile tea and give this a listen. We think you'll find it illuminating.
